CRŪ Winery Albariño and Jose’s Rosé

Christy sits with flowers and wine bottles from CRŪ Winery.

Wine and flowers make everything better

Now that summer’s fully underway (how is it already July?!), I’ve enjoying the summer blooms at the flower stores and I’ve been keeping cool by sipping on chilled wine. Please note that I received these wines as PR samples, but I was under no obligation to provide a favorable review. All views are my own.

I had the opportunity to try CRŪ Winery Albariño and Jose’s Rosé from Grenache.

CRŪ Winery sources grapes from the Central Coast including the local Santa Lucia Highlands AVA, Paso Robles AVA, Edna Valley AVA and Santa Maria Valley AVA.

The grapes for each of these wines were sourced from a single vineyard. I love the opportunity to try single vineyard wines as it really showcases the terroir.

The Albariño is from Paragon Vineyard in Edna Valley AVA, and was the first time I’ve tried a wine from this appellation. I found it to have notes of grapefruit, green apple and tropical fruit with a distinctive minerality and acidity. in the finish. I bet this would go fantastic with seafood!

Jose’s Rosé is made from 100% Grenache sourced from the French Camp vineyard in the Paso Robles Highlands District. Rosé from Grenache is my favorite kind of Rosé. I found this one to have notes of strawberry, raspberry and watermelon. Perfect to sip on a hot day.

CRŪ has two tasting rooms, one on the River Road Wine Trail in the Santa Lucia Highlands and other in Madera in the Central Valley.

I’m looking forward to visiting the SLH one soon!

I take my judging duties very seriously! Last year was so much fun and I’m happy they asked me to return.

If you love live cooking demonstrations, wine pairings, and chowder, then this is the event for you. There’s wine tasting and small bites while the chowder is prepared live, and then everyone gets to taste the finished chowders.

It’s always my favorite event during Monterey Car Week, because food and wine are in the spotlight - along with some absolutely amazing cars.

I also love that so many of our local wineries are at the event, and it’s a great opportunity to try new-to-me producers as well. Thank you @cruwinery for the ticket, I had so much fun!

This event is not only my first event for Monterey Car Week, but it’s one of my favorites - they even close Del Monte Blvd off!

@bernarduswinery came in strong with one of the largest bottles of wine I’ve ever seen - I was told it’s a Methusala which holds 6 liters of wine!

@adoberoadwines brought in a great selection of their wines, including their racing themed box set and their race car!

Cheers to the start of Car Week!

I don’t know about you, but this warmer weather has me reaching for lighter wines especially Albariño and Rosè and I’m a big fan of both of CRŪ’s.

I’ve also always enjoyed home happy hour - while I love exploring new wine bars and restaurants, sometimes the best place to connect is at home with family and friends. Plus there’s no dress code or waitlist.

Now that it’s Car Week in Monterey, I know I’m going to enjoy a glass or two of wine at home - no reservation required!

Part of the @methodoregon Grand Tasting Weekend, this educational event walked us through the production process for traditional method sparkling wine and was followed by a Bubbles Block Party where we celebrated all things Oregon sparkling wine.

After seeing the behind the scenes of the production process, and then tasting vintage bubbles I have a new found appreciation for sparkling wine.

Thank you @lytlebarnett and @methodoregon for hosting us!
