What are you thankful for this season?

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, I’ve been thinking a lot about what wines I will be serving at my table.
When planning a big festive meal I like to support businesses that are practicing sustainability and SIP Certified makes finding sustainably grown and produced wines easy.
SIP (Sustainability In Practice) certification is a program that includes sustainable practices such as water management, energy efficiency in the vineyard, and ethical business practices.
When I host a big gathering I never know what wine preferences my friends and family may have, which is why I like to offer them a selection.
The SIP Certified website makes it easy to find vineyards and wineries that practice sustainability. It really comes in handy when planning a menu.
Two of the wines I’ve picked for Thanksgiving this year are Pomar Junction Winery 2016 Zinfandel and Timbre Winery 2017 Stereophonic Riesling.
The Stereophonic Riesling is from the Riverbench Vineyard in Santa Maria Valley. It has 28.4 grams of residual sugar, but this Riesling is well balanced and has notes of lemon, peach and honey.
The Pomard Junction Zinfandel is from the El Pomar district in Paso Robles and has notes of Cherry and Blueberry and softer tannins than I expected from a Zin.
I love the transparency of SIP certification and it makes supporting sustainable business easy.
