I’m Christy, a content creator and wine blogger based in Monterey on California’s beautiful Central Coast. I’m passionate about exploring California’s diverse wine-growing regions and telling the stories of the wineries I visit on my instagram and this blog.
You may know Monterey as the town in “Big Little Lies”, but did you know it’s also a fantastic wine-growing region? Since moving here in early 2021 I’ve been on a mission to traverse the different American Viticultural Areas or AVAs in Monterey Wine Country and showcase our fantastic boutique wineries. I love to explore Carmel-by-the-Sea, Carmel Valley and the River Road Wine Trail and share my finds with the world.
I was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan and have called California home for over 10 years. I love to travel and have been lucky enough to travel throughout Europe, Asia and North America. Living in Japan and traveling the world at a young age brings a unique international perspective to my work.
My degree is in Visual Arts and Art History and I studied video production and editing and enjoy documenting my travels and winery visits in short videos via instagram reels. My professional background has been working in marketing with an emphasis on email marketing for recruitment and membership for non-profits.
I was inspired to start my wine journey during quarantine. I had fallen into a rut of buying the same California Cabernet Sauvignon from the supermarket every time. On a whim, I bought a bottle of Bordeaux from a wine shop and opened it on New Years Eve. The complexity and nuances of that Bordeaux completely changed my perspective on wine.
After that bottle, I decided to learn more about wine and enrolled in a WSET 2 class. While I couldn’t travel to France due to travel restrictions, I decided I wanted to learn more about California’s wine regions and wineries and thus Christy on the Vine was born.
When I’m not visiting wineries or blogging, I love to explore Monterey and Carmel-by-the-Sea with my friends and dine at local restaurants, visit cafes and support small businesses.
