Albatross Ridge Cottage, Carmel Valley, CA

The weather was so nice the other day, I just had to go out to Carmel Valley and take advantage of it!

I wanted to check out the Albatross Ridge Wine Tasting Cottage in Carmel Valley. I’ve been to their very chic tasting room in Carmel-by-the-Sea and enjoyed their wines.

Albatross Ridge Winery is known for Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and a wonderful Pét-Natt Sparkling Rosé. Their Pét-Natt was the first one I’ve ever had.

Albatross Ridge is owned by father and son team Brad and Garrett Bowlus. They’ve been growing grapes since 2008. Garrett is also the winemaker.

They offer two wine tasting menus at different price points. I opted for the Grand Flight which includes their Chardonnay, Pét-Natt Sparkling Rosé and three Pinot Noirs.

Note: the tasting menus at the Carmel Valley location and the downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea location on Dolores St. are the same.

Pinot Noir lovers will rejoice! Their are 3 Pinot Noirs on the tasting menu. Each Pinot Noir was so different and I really enjoyed tasting the differences. I liked the 2017 Estate Reserve Pinot Noir the best.

Me before Pinot…

Until recently, I didn’t drink a lot of Chardonnay, but I really like the one at Albatross Ridge. Aged in a concrete amphora, this Chardonnay didn’t have any of the spices or butter that Oaked Chardonnay has. I usually look for Chardonnay aged in stainless steel, but going forward I want to try more Chardonnay aged in concrete.

We had a great time at Albatross Ridge, everyone was so friendly. We loved learning about the wines from Melissa and Jon Karlo. You may recognize Jon from the informative reels he makes for their IG account.

I take my judging duties very seriously! Last year was so much fun and I’m happy they asked me to return.

If you love live cooking demonstrations, wine pairings, and chowder, then this is the event for you. There’s wine tasting and small bites while the chowder is prepared live, and then everyone gets to taste the finished chowders.

It’s always my favorite event during Monterey Car Week, because food and wine are in the spotlight - along with some absolutely amazing cars.

I also love that so many of our local wineries are at the event, and it’s a great opportunity to try new-to-me producers as well. Thank you @cruwinery for the ticket, I had so much fun!
Another @porschemonterey classic in the books and Another @porschemonterey classic in the books and I can’t believe I got to meet Sally from Cars!

This event is not only my first event for Monterey Car Week, but it’s one of my favorites - they even close Del Monte Blvd off!

@bernarduswinery came in strong with one of the largest bottles of wine I’ve ever seen - I was told it’s a Methusala which holds 6 liters of wine!

@adoberoadwines brought in a great selection of their wines, including their racing themed box set and their race car!

Cheers to the start of Car Week!
Trend or no trend, it’s always chic to make home h Trend or no trend, it’s always chic to make home happy hour into an occasion and especially when you have wines from @cruwinery. #CRUpartner

I don’t know about you, but this warmer weather has me reaching for lighter wines especially Albariño and Rosè and I’m a big fan of both of CRŪ’s.

I’ve also always enjoyed home happy hour - while I love exploring new wine bars and restaurants, sometimes the best place to connect is at home with family and friends. Plus there’s no dress code or waitlist.

Now that it’s Car Week in Monterey, I know I’m going to enjoy a glass or two of wine at home - no reservation required!

Part of the @methodoregon Grand Tasting Weekend, this educational event walked us through the production process for traditional method sparkling wine and was followed by a Bubbles Block Party where we celebrated all things Oregon sparkling wine.

After seeing the behind the scenes of the production process, and then tasting vintage bubbles I have a new found appreciation for sparkling wine.

Thank you @lytlebarnett and @methodoregon for hosting us!
