A glass of wine while grocery shopping?
Maybe it’s just me but grocery shopping after a glass of wine is a lot more fun, almost like an adventure… Here at Elroy’s Fine Foods I could browse the aisles for hours.
Elroy’s Fine Foods is a small, gourmet grocer here in Monterey and just celebrated their 1 year anniversary in August complete with their (belated due to Covid-19) ribbon cutting ceremony with the Monterey Chamber of Commerce.
During the event I had the chance to stroll the aisle with a glass of wine in hand and discover new favorites all throughout the store. They offer a wonderful selection of gourmet food and emphasize stocking products from local, women, and BIPOC businesses.
They have a deli (the hijiki carrot salad is my favorite), sandwiches to order (I hear the Tri-Tip Quesadilla is a hit), an espresso/smoothie bar and my personal favorite – a wine bar!
I picked up several cheeses to make a charcuterie board to take wine tasting. If you’re on the go, Elroy’s has prepared charcutier sets in the deli, perfect to pick up on your way to wine tasting in Carmel Valley or the River Road Wine Trail.
While I doubt they let you stroll the aisles with a glass of wine outside of their anniversary party, Elroy’s is a great place to shop or just stop in and have a drink at their wine bar.
